A fire near Yosemite National Park has become California’s largest wildfire of the year, burning more than 16,000 acres and forcing thousands to evacuate.

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) announced a state of emergency for Mariposa County, after the fire forced more than 3,000 people to evacuate their homes. The fire started Friday as temperatures reached the triple digits.
According to Cal Fire, as of Monday morning, only 10% of the fire has been contained. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
