In 1934 the Burlington Railroad came out with the Pioneer Zephyr a mainline diesel electric locomotive passenger seat that was also streamlined. along side the Union Pacific M10000 these engines proved to the world that diesel electrics could be used for main line service which would eventually pave the way for the retirement of steam locomotives in general.
The Pioneer Zephyr may have been the first Passenger seat the CBQ commissioned but it wasn't the only one it would have. one of them would be named the Mark Twain Zephyr.
The Mark Twain Zephyr was similar to the Pioneer Zephyr in that with the engine included it was a 4 car passenger set.
The Mark Twain Zephyr ran all over the CBQ system even operating between Chicago and st. Paul for a few weeks in 1936.
It was a stunning Passenger seat that is beautifully presented here in this Brass Set complete with the full 4 car unit.
One final thing I'd like to mentioned about the model, the ohh motor that runs the entire train is not placed in the engine it self, but rather in the observation coach. I'm not certain as to why they chose that but that's how it works and man is it a fun unit to run.
I hope you all enjoy it and thanks for watching.
