The talk will give a basic overview of complex carbohydrates that are found on cell surfaces and on several biomolecules in the human body. Peter will discuss some of the possible roles for these intriguing family of molecules and potential importance for carbohydrates as for example markers of cancer development. In addition, he will address the importance of using non-conventional thinking when it comes to find solutions to biological problems. Both when it comes to answer questions about biological function and practical use. Research: Glycobiology, studies of structure and function of complex carbohydrates. His main focus has been on structural studies of plasma protein glycosylation and development of methods for diagnosis of disease based on detection of aberrant glycosylation. Another focus is studying the role of glycosylation of plasma glycoproteins in the acute inflammatory response.
Teaching: Development of problem-based learning techniques for basic biomedicine training. Entrepreneurial training within medical and biomedical education. Presentation techniques. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
