Nathula is a mountain pass in the himalayas in the east Sikkim district connecting Indian state of Sikkim with China's Tibet autonomous region. This Nathula pass is at an altitude of 14140 feet above the sea level.
Nathula pass is open only for Indian citizens 5 days a week. Nathula pass is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Indian tourists are allowed to see the Indo-China border and can see the Chinese soldiers on the other side and our Indian soldiers this side.
The best time to visit the Nathula pass is May to October (The temperature is around 10 degree c) Winters experience very heavy snow fall and the temperature dropping tp -25 degrees c. Nathula pass is best to see during winter with snow capped mountains.
The visitors have to get the permit to visit Nathula Pass one day in advance. These can be arranged by your travel agent or hotel persons. Documents required are photo identity proof such as voters id, aadhar etc., and 2 pp size photographs.
