One or more products to be shipped are packed on a tray made of corrugated cardboard. The tray can be printed for a better unboxing experience. This tray is slid into a shipping box.
This packaging concept can be applied semi-automatically or fully automatically. In the automatic version, a robot places the products on the corrugated board, the products are scanned, an optimal wrapping pattern is calculated and applied, the corrugated board is folded and slid into a box.
The TCO of this packaging concept turns out to be very favourable for all calculated examples: fancy but expensive retail packaging has been replaced by packaging aiming at damage prevention in an e-commerce context.
