Labour said the Tories’ dire local election results marked a “clear rejection” of Rishi Sunak in his first electoral test as Prime Minister.
Rishi Sunak’s party lost 48 local authorities and 962 councillors whilst Labour gained 632 seats and seized 22 councils.
Tory MP Tobias Ellwood tells TalkTV’s David Bull his party “have big questions to ask” themselves after the local election results.
“The electorate voted to leave the European Union, but they didn’t vote to be poorer because of departure … we can’t be just chasing Brexiteer votes at the next election.”
