21 Members of Congress sent a letter urging President Biden to exonerate the late civil rights leader Marcus Garvey. The plea is part of a decades-long effort to clear Garvey’s name, who was convicted of mail fraud in 1923 following a campaign of government surveillance and targeting – charges Rep. Barbara Lee, one of the letter’s co-signers, calls “fabricated.” “There’s a lot of unfinished business in America as it relates to African American equity and justice,” says Rep. Lee.
