For two months, I’ve been bringing my lunch to work, but in the last two weeks, someone started stealing it. They even washed my containers and left a thank you note! I sent an office-wide email asking them to stop, but it didn’t work. I talked to some colleagues, and they said they hide their lunches in their cubicles to stop the “lunch pirates.” So, I did the same—bought a lunch pail, packed it with ice, and hung it under my desk.
Today, I went to heat up my food when a coworker (who doesn’t even work in my department) asked why my lunch wasn’t in the fridge. I told her I was tired of people stealing it, so I keep it in my cubicle. She then asked me to split my lunch because she didn’t bring any! I looked her dead in the face and asked if she was the one stealing my food. She said she didn’t “steal,” she “borrowed.” I said, “Borrowed? When are you paying me back? I’m not welfare. If you didn’t bring your lunch, go buy some. I’m not sharing, PERIOD.”
I reported her to HR and her manager, but then I got emails from people I don’t even know, saying I shouldn’t have reported her without knowing her situation. I replied, saying anyone wearing Tom Ford pumps shouldn’t be stealing lunches.
