Ousted Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate has secured a new position as CEO of parcel delivery company Toll Global Express – a major competitor of her old company.
Ms Holgate described her new job as a “fantastic opportunity” and expressed hope for the future working in an industry that she loves.
“There aren’t many opportunities that you get in life to go and lead a business that’s just had $500 million secured, that you’re going to be working with a board totally aligned with you,” she said.
Ms Holgate exited Australia Post last year after it was revealed four executives had been awarded Cartier watches worth a total of $20,000.
She has since been cleared of misusing taxpayer funds but said her position was untenable after Mr Morrison’s intervention where he pushed for her resignation.
After a controversial series of public hearings Ms Holgate said there were lessons to be learnt for both herself and Australia Post.
