The blade of this Irish Arming Sword is crafted from 6150 high carbon steel with a tempered 50 HRC hardness. The hilt is steel and the wooden grip is finished with a leather wrap which was stitched and then shrunk to a tight, durable and long-lasting fit with beeswax – a traditional and practical method for finishing a medieval sword grip. The grip is dyed a mottled brown.
Agile and responsive, this sword is not merely one of the more fetching of medieval designs – it has plenty of meat in the width of the blade coupled with a shallow, flattened cross section to ensure it cuts and slices with grand authority in capable hands. A tapered tip stiffened with a central ridge ensures it will capably pierce as well.
