FoEhints: Winter Event 2021 in Forge of Empires

The Winter Event 2021 will start on December 2nd, 2021 at 9:30 am. It is the longest event of the year and follows the familiar pattern of previous years.

As usual, we are collecting Winter Stars again. 20 we have immediately at the start of the event. Another 10 stars you get for every login.

As usual, the quest line of the event is divided into 38 rush quests, which can be started immediately, plus another 32 daily quests, of which every day another one is added after the rush quests. The first 37 quests are rewarded with 10 Winter Stars each. After that, there are even 15 Winter Stars each. As always, I write the quests in the first pinned comment below the video.

The milestone for the 55th quest rewards us with another 140 winter stars.

In addition, Winter Stars can also be obtained via incidents in and around the city.

The winter stars are then used to open gifts. When opening the gifts, you can sometimes get more winter stars. If you open the gift with the shuffle icon, you get a completely new set of gifts. With each gift you get a small prize right away, with one gift containing the daily special. Among them are kits for the main prizes of previous years. On two days there will even be a new trailer for the winter train from the 2019 winter event, the Parlour Car with 5% bonus to the defense of the attacking army. All daily prizes as they were on the beta server are also in this first pinned comment below the video.

One package also contains an advent calendar key. The first key found on a day opens the door of the current day in the Advent Calendar. Each additional key found on the same day provides a piece of a master key and 10 winter stars. 5 pieces of the master key then allow you to open a door that you missed.

Each opened door of the Advent calendar contains an instant prize there. Again, the new salon car can be won on two days.

At the previous Halloween event, there was also such a calendar. There it was sure to be able to complete the calendar without diamonds. The Advent calendar in the Winter event cannot be completed without using diamonds. Even completing all 31 Daily Challenges, each of which still yields a piece of the Master Key, could not complete the calendar in the end. That's why I recommend players without a diamond stake: Just take the few doors that can be opened along the way. Gifts are unwrapped when the daily prize is attractive. By the way, this daily prize can be exchanged for another one once a day.

Only the most ambitious players are recommended not to focus on the best daily prizes, but to unwrap gifts every day to get as many keys as possible and get the extra prize for opening all the doors in the end:
- 2 winter channel selection kits
- 1 saloon car
- Avatar of the train waiter
- 200 Forge points
- 100 goods

Each opened gift also provides a box of matches, represented in the window by a single match.

If you use a box of matches, it contains 1 to 3 matches. According to the number of matches, candles are lit and thus further houses of the Christmas settlement are atmospherically illuminated. If all 20 buildings are lit, you get the displayed Grand Prize. As usual, every other Grand Prize is an upgrade kit for the event's Main Prize.

This year's Main Prize is the Winter Canal. This is an event building that can be upgraded to level 9 with upgrade kits. The 10th and final upgrade then allows you to choose between the Festive Canal and the Jolie Canal. The main difference between the two is that the Festive Canal provides slightly more Forge Points as well as defense bonuses for both the attacking and defending armies. The Jolie Canal, on the other hand, has attack bonuses for both armies.

At the end, we should briefly mention the reindeer sleigh that appears next to the antique dealer during the event. This is not a traditional event reward, but a deal. With each daily special you get a reindeer. Each reindeer unlocks a random item that is different for each player. For the purchase price of 2,995 diamonds, you can then buy the unlocked items. While you can already complete the trade with the first reindeer, it is highly recommended to wait until the 9th reindeer. The same number of diamonds is required regardless of the number of reindeer. However, with more reindeer you will then get more items for the same price. The offer is very attractive at this price. However, since this deal can only be made with diamonds, it will not be possible for all players. But we will all be comforted by the many small and big prizes of this event and so this will be a really good event again.
