Amarnath yatra 2024 - the amarnath yatra holds immense significance as a holy pilgrimage for Hindi devotees who wish to undertake it at least once in their lifetime. The yatra is undertaken to visit Amarnath Cave, which is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites among Hindus. Located at a height of 3,888 metres in Srinagar, it is considered to be one of the holiest shrines of Lord Shiva. This is the only time in the year when the Amarnath Cave is accessible. The Yatra takes place during Shravani Mela, which falls in the Shravan month, according to the Hindu calendar. However, other epics tell a different story. It says that the Kashmir valley was submerged in water and Kashyap Rishi drained it through various rivers and rivulets. During the same time, Bhrigu Rishi visited the Himalayas and was the first to have the darshan of the holy Amarnath Cave.
