Boletus Edulis🍴✅
ℹ️Cap At first hemispherical, then erect to flat. Brown with paler areas, especially on the periphery. The caps of very young mushrooms may be almost white. The surface is smooth and sometimes slightly wrinkled, with no tendency to crack. The edge is at first slightly folded, later straightens and is usually marked with a pale stripe. It usually reaches 20 cm in diameter, but occasional specimens are even larger. Some authors consider specimens with yellowish caps (Boletus venturii) or completely white caps (Boletus persoonii) as separate species.
ℹ️Boletus edulis (English: cep, penny bun, porcino or porcini) is a basidiomycete fungus, and the type species of the genus Boletus. Widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere across Europe, Asia, and North America, it does not occur naturally in the Southern Hemisphere, although it has been introduced to southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. Several closely related European mushrooms formerly thought to be varieties or forms of B. edulis have been shown using molecular phylogenetic analysis to be distinct species, and others previously classed as separate species are conspecific with this species.
