Chapter 6 of the Bhagavad Gita is entitled 'Dhyana Yoga' - The Yoga of Meditation'. This introductory lecture on the chapter highlights the most vital prerequisite for launching into meditation, which is a 'meditative mind'. An agitated and disoriented mind cannot be engaged in meditation, as widely done in the world today. One has to go through the preliminary practices of karma (action), bhakti (devotion) and Jnana (knowledge) to cleanse the mind off desires and attachment. Render the mind meditative. Such a mind automatically slides into meditation, leading to dissolution of residual desires, paving way to Self-Realisation.
