South Korea’s ruling People Power Party (PPP) is discussing a roadmap for President Yoon Suk Yeol’s resignation before his five-year term ends in May 2027. It said Yoon will not be involved in foreign and other state affairs before his exit. Jeffrey Robertson, associate professor of diplomatic studies at Yonsei University, tells CNA’s Asia First why the PPP is hoping for Yoon’s early and orderly exit, rather than have him face impeachment.
