President Jacob Zuma has launched the construction of the Inkosi Dalibhunga Mandela bridge in Nelson Mandela's hometown.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and 35 others injured, when a bus carrying villagers to the function overturned near Elliotdale.
Built over the Mbashe River, the bridge runs through Ludondolo Village near Dutywa.
On completion it will link Mvezo, Madiba's birthplace to the N-Two.
