The "Parents & Students of Irish Dancing & Music Association" is a non-profit organization which was founded and chartered by the State of NY in 1971 in order to promote Irish culture in North America.
Our members' children performed in the St. Patrick's Day Parade held in NYC, 2012. This has been an annual event since becoming an affiliate member of the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1973.
A total of 57 children participated from ages 7-17.
The students have colorful costumes and hail from several different Irish dancing/music schools in the tri-state area. The three dance routines, performed at various locations along 5th Avenue, include the use of tin-whistles with ribbons attached. They dance, play, march and sometimes sing. It is a fabulous display of Irish culture.
Bernadette Fee is the choreographer/whistle instructor for this event.
