The runescape party hat is by far the games most famous item. The item was obtainable only from the 2001 christmas event, and since then has become discontinued. While this has obviously led them to being rare and expensive, there may be something else causing their price ro rapidly rise.

Throughout the last 20 years party hats have gone from millions, to being worth max cash, to being worth 100's of billions of GP. Today I wanted to document the price changes over time and talk about the major events affecting the price.
