In four years, the European research project REFRESH contributed significantly towards SDG 12.3 of halving per capita food waste at the retail and consumer level by 2030 and reducing food losses along production and supply chains. In order to adapt actions and responses to food waste challenges nationally, Refresh established national networking platforms in the following five countries: Germany, Hungary, Spain, the Netherlands and China. The national platforms set up voluntary agreements and started different pilot activities against food waste, which are presented in this video.
The EU research project "Resource Efficient Food and dRink for the Entire Supply cHain" (REFRESH) ran from 2015-2019. Together with 26 partners from across Europe and China from research, politics, industry and retail, Refresh has made considerable progress in tackling the issue in a holistic and integrated way and transforming the system into a more sustainable and responsible food system.
