The PADI Skin Dive Skill is a great skill to learn if you want to swim underwater without scuba equipment. While holding your breath from the surface you can easily swim under the water a brief period of time and sadly clear your snorkel upon surfacing.

In the PADI Divemaster Skill Circuit and the PADI IDC Skill Circuit you learn to demonstrate the PADI Skin Dive Skill to your students and candidates.

How to demonstrate the PADI Skin Dive Skill:

1. Signal or speak to the students what skill you will be demonstrating
2. Keep your snorkel in your mouth and your diving mask on your face
3. Take a few deep breaths and be relaxed
4. Show when you are ready to take a deep breath and swim face down to the bottom of the deep end of the swimming pool
5. Swim relaxed from the deep end of the pool to the shallow end of the swimming pool
6. When you reach the surface keep the snorkel in your mouth and clear it first by using the blast method and the displace water method
7. Resume normal breathing
8. Signal or ask if they understood the skill demonstration
