VirTra simulators allow law enforcement agencies the training with simulation scenarios in a safe environment. With the ability to train with less lethal tools such as TASERs, it prepares officers for incidents when they will need to use de-escalation techniques, non-lethal and less lethal force to control and subdue a suspect. Less lethal options are paramount for instances where officers are faced with suicidal or emotionally disturbed people (EDP).
In this scenario, officers respond to a scene where an emotionally disturbed person (EDP) is holding a knife to his chest, threatening to harm himself and potentially others. Moving beyond simple shoot/don’t shoot situations, this scenario trains officers for scene control, contact and cover concepts, triangulation, and how less lethal options such as TASERs can be used to de-escalate a situation when faced with an erratic and emotionally disturbed individual. Enabling an officer to train using all tools on the tool belt provide decision making training and enhanced realism.
VirTra’s patent-pending TASER simulation training cartridges are direct drop-in replacements for live cartridges on real Axon TASERs (VirTra currently provides training cartridges for the TASER X2 and TASER X26P). The VirTra simulator training cartridge uses cross connection capabilities to accurately register both top and bottom probe hits for a more efficient training process and exact degrees of spread. For a true-to-life training experience, the OEM cartridge housings provide proper form fit and require NO modification to live TASER handles. The OEM cartridge housings are ‘smart’ simulated cartridges that allow for ARCing engagement with two targets simultaneously, in addition to a proprietary V-Sense™ Smart Motion Sensor that enables automatic ON/OFF modes.
