Former president Jacob Zuma's lawyers have accused the DA of using the courts to scandalise him after he was granted medical parole.
This is contained in papers before the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein. Zuma and the Correctional Services Department are challenging the High Court order which overturned his release on medical parole by former Correctional Services Commissioner, Arthur Fraser.
In their submissions, Zuma's legal team has accused the DA and the Helen Suzman Foundation of using the courts to advance political interests.
Zuma was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment by the Constitutional Court for contempt of court after he breached its earlier order to abide by the summons of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture to appear before it.
Fraser saw it fit to release the former president on medical parole after less than two months.
This went against recommendations of the Medical Parole Advisory Board.
