Dagestan is considered one of the most dangerous regions in the world.
I went there and while was hitchhiking I've met a local who showed me one of the isolated mountain villages called Gamsutl. It's a ghost town.

To reach it you have to fly to Makhachkala, then ride marshrutka for 7 hours, then find someone who will give you a lift to a small village of Chokh and from there you walk for 2 hours up the mountain.
Not an easy journey, right?
