Hello friends! In this video, I’m sharing an idea on how to make a beautiful vase using a plastic bottle and papier-mâché paste. I hope you enjoy my idea!
I made the papier-mâché paste from the cheapest toilet paper. You can use any toilet paper. I soaked it and blended it with a blender. Then I squeezed out the excess moisture and mixed the shredded paper with PVA glue (white glue). You need to add a lot of glue to make sure the paste doesn't crumble and holds its shape.
After covering the bottle with this mixture, I left it to dry. This type of paste can take up to 7 days to dry, but I sped up the process by placing it on a radiator. It dried in about a day. If cracks appear after drying, you can fix them by applying more of the mixture and letting it dry again.
The cord, which decorates the vase, was made from a homemade paste by mixing starch and thick PVA glue (wood glue). I added oil to make the paste elastic and non-sticky. This mixture also takes about a day to dry.
Once everything was completely dry, I painted the vase with black acrylic paint. After the black paint dried, I used a sponge to apply white paint, and I painted the cords gold. This type of vase is very sturdy and won’t break. You can pour water inside it, and if water gets on the outer surface, it won’t ruin the vase. You can wipe it with a wet cloth, but don’t soak it in water.
