(4K, 2023) Loganair Saab 340 (G-LGNJ) gusty approach and crosswind landing on Runway 09 at Sumburgh, Shetland Islands, Scotland, operating flight LM72 from Aberdeen Dyce, in late April 2023. Includes the infamous Sumburgh runway road crossing! Skip to the start of the gusty approach at timestamp 02:50, or the final approach and landing at timestamp 04:15. Not for nervous flyers - this was (for me!) a very fun experience! The 46Mph (40 Knots/hour or 74km/h) gusts of turbulence started as we passed the coastline, and picked up again on short-finals for the Runway - I thought we would be going back to Aberdeen, or at least a go-around - we were blown all over the place at this point, but the pilot slammed it down against the gusts and put it into reverse immediately! If you look carefully, as we roll out, you can see we were moving left and right of the centreline as we slowed down. As a result of all this, I must say this is my favourite flight that I have ever taken! Loganair will have retired all of their Saab 340B aircraft in favour of newer ATR aircraft by July of this year. Watch the takeoff from a wet and rainy Aberdeen Dyce at [ Ссылка ]
