𝗗𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗥𝗨𝗜𝗧 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗞𝗞𝗜
Beautifully caramelized, perfectly crisp, and crunchy dried fruit chikki❤️ is the most loved candy in Indian households. Speckled throughout with nuts, this Indian version of peanut brittle is a simple fare made with just two ingredients and 20 minutes of your time😋
In addition, it is 𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐧-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞, 𝐞𝐠𝐠-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞, and 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧. It’s my family favorite during the winters but can be enjoyed any time of year!🥰
⏩Ingredients
11/2 cup nuts of choice (Cashews, Almonds and Pistachio)
1 cup organic jaggery pieces
1 teaspoon cardamom (optional)
1 tablespoon dried rose petal (optional)
Ghee to brush
⏩Method
Roast the nuts in a pan or oven till light pink and roasted .It could take 10-15 minutes on low heat. Remove.
In the same pan brush ghee to make it nonstick along with the cooking spatula.
Add the jaggery pieces and cook at low heat.
Once bubbles start appearing, drop a piece of liquid jaggery into a bowl of water.if it makes a hard ball means it's candy-like and ready to be made into chikki.
Empty the roasted nuts, cardamom and rose petals.
Mix well and combine.
Empty the mixture immediately on a greased foil lined plate.Cool slightly.
Make indentations as per the size needed.
Break into pieces and store in a cool dry place, covered.
⏩Top tip
Cooking at all times should be at a low temperature.
Use the choice of nuts like peanuts or walnuts.
Keeping the proportion constant of nut and jaggery, add seeds of choice.
NEVER touch the liquid sugar/jaggery.
Grease well.
Make dry fruit bark if the desired shape does not appear.
