Results from a new study on the diagnosis of malaria conducted in Mpigi district have shown that existing malaria rapid diagnostic testing kits are unable to detect lower levels of malaria parasites in the body. This follows a study by the ministry of health, using an improved highly sensitive rapid diagnostic testing kit, that found undetected cases of asymptomatic malaria including in pregnant women. The ministry's Permanent Secretary Dr Diana Atwine says they are working to incorporate the new kits in the existing health system. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition
