When was the last time you raised your rates as a massage therapist? Honestly, it’s one of the more difficult things I have done in my business UNTIL I got over the resistance and then it became easy.
This is a topic that comes up often in our Sports Massage Therapist Community Facebook group so I thought I’d take a few minutes and address it here especially since I did it myself just a couple months ago.

I have found massage therapists in particular to be creative empathetic people. I’ve met a ton of fellow therapists who have worked in music, art, yoga, and been involved with nonprofits. It’s actually a great characteristic of a therapist but can cloud our judgment in business.
When we put our GUESS at what the financial needs of our clients are based on our own or previous experience it can cap us from making more income which trickles into the quality of our craft.
If you are feeling burnt out because you have to do 7-8 sessions a day to make ends meet, how are you showing up everyday for your clients, your family, and are you actually enjoying the profession that allows your gifts to really shine through? We also have to consider that our jobs can be a bit seasonal and if you are having a slow week are your rates enough where you don’t have to stress about making ends meet?
