Dr. Jarman's clinic sees toe walkers every day, and he routinely performs toe walking surgery every Wednesday, with over a decade of experience. The good news is that this condition is 100% treatable and can be corrected in children who have not responded to conservative care or require surgical correction due to their age.
Telehealth / Virtual Consultation with Dr. Jarman
------------------
It all begins with a telehealth appointment with Dr. Jarman to discuss your child's specific situation and qualify them for surgical intervention. The office's surgical scheduler will then help schedule a surgery date and serve as the point of contact. The day before surgery, an office visit is required for a thorough workup and to confirm your child's candidacy for the procedure.

The Surgical Process
------------------
On the day of surgery, patients need to arrive at the surgical center an hour before the procedure and can typically leave an hour after. A cast is applied to protect the surgical site, and a mandatory two-week follow-up is scheduled to remove the cast, check the site, and apply a new cast with a special modification for easy removal at home. At week four, the child transitions into a walking boot for two weeks.
Around week seven, an office staff member will call to discuss proper expectations as your child transitions out of the walking boot and into regular shoes. Surgery is performed on one leg at a time, with the second leg typically scheduled 2.5 months after the initial surgery. The same procedure and follow-up process are followed for the second leg.
Post-Operative Care
------------------
Physical therapy is strongly recommended, starting approximately six weeks after surgery. A final telehealth follow-up is scheduled six months after the initial surgery to confirm your child's progress and graduation from the program.
Dr. Jarman advises interested parents to have an in-depth conversation with the office or himself to understand the complete steps, logistics, and costs based on their specific case. The goal is for parents to have clear clarification of the process and all their questions answered.
