Description: A much awaited journey for me :D .. I had seen quite many videos of this section on YouTube and I am very happy to have finally uploaded my own. In this video, my 12812 Hatia - Mumbai LTT Superfast Express (I was travelling from Durg to Mumbai) led by Santragachi WAP-4 # 22825 traverses the lush green, beautiful Thul Ghats b/w IGP and KSRA. At IGP outer we encounter 12534 CSTM - LJN Pushpak Express led by AJNI WAP7 # 30270 and banked by KYN WAG-7 # 27213 and 27397. All the stops the train made in this video were for Brake Testing.
Thul/Thull/Thal Ghats is a ghat section in the Western Ghats. The railway line through these ghats is one of the 4 that serve Mumbai. The gradient of the Thul Ghat railway section is the steepest broad gauge rail (1676 mm) in whole of India at 1:37. The section is one of the most beautiful routes of Indian Railways. Almost all trains require banker attachment while climbing these ghats. The National Highway - 3 also winds the hills above the railway lines.
I made this video sitting in the train's Pantry car. My friend Anugyan Das can be heard chatting away with the Pantry staff and also occasionally disturbing me :P
