Belarussian product Michael A makes his return to Heath Mill Recordings just in time for the last stretch of summer. His foray into electronic music came over a decade ago and now he has roughly 6 years of quality productions under his belt with releases on Tulipa, Sound Avenue, Armada, his own Genesis imprint, and Heath Mill Recordings. September sees the follow up to Quintessence and Shaman Voices with his second EP on the Oregon-based record label.
This two track release is Michael As first on Heath Mill Recordings since early April, making his return to the imprint a heavily anticipated one. On the A side is a blissful number titled Inner Voices, properly opening the door for whats to come on the EP. A muffled bass hangs around the low end of the production as the single synth note slowly blossoms in to an all-encompassing atmospheric vibe backed by the distant echo of a soft vocal note-the tracks Inner Voices. Overall, this 8+ minute anthem is perfect for setting the tone for a proper evening.
Dreambox is to follow, taking the listener for a winding journey through a dimly lit cavern directed largely by a fat horn melody and intricate sound effects. The inner workings of the track scream Maceo Plex while the atmosphere as a whole has Ten Walls written all over it. Those sounds converge in an orchestrated number that is topped off with sinister back melodies and a tripped out shimmery appeal for added effect. In other words, it is arguably one of the best tracks the label has released to date.
