Halwa is as traditional as it gets. This pudding like dessert is made for a ceremony which takes places on the 9th day after a baby has been born. It is eaten with dosti roti or 2 in 1 roti. Many people do not make this nowadays and it is usually only made by the older generations. I hope with this recipe I have made it simple for viewers to follow along at home if they ever needed to make this.
Ingredients and Measurements:
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4-1/3 cup granulated sugar (depending on how sweet you want it)
1 tbsp. freshly grated ginger
1 tbsp. halwa masala (can be found at most West Indian grocery stores)
2 tbsp. water (to mix with the masala)
2 tbsp. ghee
1 can (12 oz.) of evaporated milk
