The village of La Pared is named after the ancient Maho wall which stretches across the Jandia peninsula from coast to coast. This wall was originally thought to be the boundary separating the northern kingdom of Maxorata from the southern kingdom of Jandia, though the real frontier is now considered to be much further north at the Barranco de la Torre. Nevertheless the wall was sufficiently important to give Fuerteventura its earlier name of Erbania.
Associated with the wall are at least 54 dry stone structures - corrals, esquenes, tagoros and dwellings. Running alongside it, but much straighter, is the fence built in the late 1930s by Gustav Winter (the Nazi sympathiser of Villa Winter in Cofete) to isolate the Jandia peninsula from the rest of Fuerteventura.
The Maho wall is badly damaged but some sections have been completely obliterated by the construction of the urbanisation of La Pared.
This movie was filmed using a DJI Mini 2, and the music was composed and performed by Looking fo Rita.
