It was yet another working weekend for the finance ministers and leaders of the eurozone.
The single-currency bloc has been locked in marathon discussions in a bid to keep Greece in the euro,... but no deal has been struck yet.
Han Da-eun has the details.
Is Greece′s final proposal enough to secure a new bailout?
Eurozone leaders assembled once again in Brussels on Sunday to find a way to save Greece and the currency union,... but despite marathon talks that went late into the night,... they came up short.
Prior to Sunday′s meeting, eurozone finance ministers put forth an interim set of measures to hand over to eurozone leaders.
The list reportedly includes,... ′ambitious′ reforms to pensions and labor markets, full oversight of draft legislation by the international creditors in Athens,... and talks on Greece′s possible ′time-out′ from the euro area if a bailout is not agreed.
The de-politicization of the Greek administration was also part of the list.
″We just finished our meeting. We have come a long way, solved a lot of issues but some big issues still remain so we′re now going to inform the leaders and they can discuss and hopefully decide on those last issues. Thanks.″
According to media reports in Greece,.... Greek officials labeled the measures very bad′... while some even called it a ′humiliation.′
But Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras seemed rather upbeat upon his arrival for Sunday′s meeting.
″I′m here ready for an honest compromise. We owe that to the peoples of Europe who want Europe united and not divided. We can reach an agreement tonight if all parties want.″
It′s expected to be an uphill battle for Greece,... as Germany, its biggest bailout contributor has ramped up presssure on Athens to execute bolder reforms.
Greece′s third bailout, if agreed upon,... could be worth up to 86 billion euros.
