Today we discuss recent USCIS policy changes, as well as US immigration reform and how it is being affected by the growing asylum case backlog. In compliance with President Biden's Executive Order 14012, USCIS has made policy updates in an attempt to remove barriers to legal immigration and adjustment of status. We cover the changes to expedited processing criteria, updates to Request For Evidence (RFE) and Notice Of Intent to Deny (NOID), and changes to work permit (also known as Employment Authorization Document or EAD) validity periods. We also take a close look at the growing border crisis and the resulting migrant asylum case backlog in immigration court, which is straining immigration judges and has the potential to stop all immigration reform during Biden's presidency.
