Before casting his vote in the Karnataka assembly polls, former CM BS Yediyurappa paid a visit to his ancestral temple in Shikaripura. Yediyurappa is a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and had resigned as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in July 2021. He was succeeded by Basavaraj Bommai as the new CM of Karnataka. Yediyurappa's visit to the temple before casting his vote is seen as a customary practice followed by many politicians in the state, as they seek blessings before participating in the democratic process.
