Another look at PilotEdge for VFR flying in Southern California. We'll see two freeware airports: Ramona by Vincent Bazillio and L35 Big Bear by Josue Mejia as part of a scenery upgrade package for the Big Bear area by Flightsimdude. Again, we will also see the FS Birds addon in action over these airports.
So a handful of flights later we are back at it on PilotEdge. This was my first long distance foray in PilotEdge outside of San Diego county. In this trip, while basic in nature, I opted for some simple longer distance flight planning to test keeping out of some other airspaces. The weather started off in the usual way with the overcast layer sliding in over night but burned off by late morning.
About 40 minutes later we are up at Big Bear and I learn a lesson about flight planning. I didn't factor in how I do the overhead pattern entry at normal airports and how in reality that probably wasn't too feasible here because of the rising terrain all around the airport. It was interesting to come across that and now it'll be something I'll be thinking about when going somewhere new.
Anyways I hope you enjoy, once again, please keep in mind I'm not a pilot so if you see some wrong things please point them out so I can learn from them..I appreciate it!
Cheers!
