We tend to tense our muscles in response to anxiety or stress. Sometimes we don't even notice this tension because our bodies become used to being that way. This practice will help you to recognize where you are holding muscle tension and help you to release it. Releasing the tension in your muscles also helps you to breathe more deeply, and belly breathing will help you relax further and prevent further anxiety.
