Billboard touting dangerous bridge ahead. Agreement made between Ohio/Ky. for Brent Spence Bridge.
COVINGTON, Ky. -- A new billboard that popped up on northbound Interstate 75 Wednesday might give motorists pause before they cross the Brent Spence Bridge.
The ominous message, “Caution: Dangerous Bridge Ahead” flashes across the electronic billboard right before the 5th Street exit in Covington. Paid for by the Build Our New Bridge Now Coalition, the message is designed to garner support for the $2.62 billion Brent Spence Bridge corridor project, according to that organization's director, Matthew Davis.
“Our Coalition was created to urge elected officials and policy makers to rebuild the structurally obsolete, congested and decaying Brent Spence Bridge Corridor that was just given a C- grade from transportation officials,” Davis said. “Given the fact that there have been two significant wrecks on the span in the last two days in Covington, we believe it’s important to tell commuters about the very real safety concerns on the corridor and invite them to our website where they can learn more and get involved.”
