Alongside the Treaty of Waitangi and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), New Zealand has signed up to a range of international human rights treaties and conventions, which can support Māori and indigenous rights. These human rights obligations are monitored by the United Nations through a system of regular reporting.
