Otome Road is famous in Ikebukuro, but in recent years, an area called Otome Park has become popular due to urban development around Ikebukuro Station.

Ikebukuro is one of Tokyo's urban complexes, located northwest of the Yamanote Line. Ikebukuro Station, located in the center of the city, is convenient for commuting to work and school, served by three subway lines and several Toei and private railway lines, and is one of the busiest shopping areas in Japan, with over 1 million passengers per day (the third busiest in the world, with Shinjuku in first place and Shibuya in second).

Ikebukuro offers a wide variety of entertainment, shopping, and dining options. The Tobu and Seibu conglomerates operate large department stores on both sides of Ikebukuro Station, as well as train lines from Ikebukuro to the suburbs. In addition, Seibu has a stake in Sunshine City, a large complex not far from the station.

Although not as large as Akihabara, Ikebukuro is the center of otaku culture. Unlike Akihabara, Ikebukuro has butler cafes and anime, manga, and cosplay-related stores that target female customers, and the center of the female otaku community is along Otome Road, just north of Sunshine City. It is also said to be a good place to find doujinshi, or self-published manga and novels, especially for women.
Recently, with the renewal of the main Animate store and the construction of a new park and commercial facilities nearby, a movement called [Otome Park] is taking place.
