Collective team of creatives, based in Lithuania LAIMINGI ŽMONĖS (HAPPY PEOPLE) presents staged versions of three vaudevilles The Bear, The Proposal, Anniversary and a short story A Villain by acknowledged classic writer and dramatist, short story master, Anton Chekhov. These
jewels of his early writing carrier explores relationship between characters from different social stratums. Immersed in rich humour situations masterfully reflect on everyday routine, examining eternal considerations about love, meaning of existence, human mission, as well as problems of justice and moral.
Each vaudeville begins with a short film - pre-history of story to be told on stage. The one you see is for the "The Bear"
The Bear: A young attractive widow bore herself and longs for a deceased husband, when a cocky, covered in straw, yet striking neighbouring estate landlord knocks at her door all of a sudden. He claims to have come after money hes lent the deceased some couple of years ago. Well, now thats an impudence?! thinks enchantress widow to herself
The Proposal: Stepan Stepanych Chubukov is a landlord whose business runs quite well and smooth. Only one mater troubles him more or less constantly, perhaps that is how on earth hes supposed to find a decent husband for his ripe-bridle-age daughter Natasha. And here comes the next door neighbour, as if it looks by pure chance. Everyone thinks hes just passing by, but soon it appears thats not exactly so.
