STORYLINE:
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Indonesia counterpart, Joko Widodo, in Beijing on Sunday.
Widodo is among 28 foreign heads of state or government who are in China attending the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation until 15 May.
The forum, which opened on Sunday, is the latest in a series of high-profile appearances aimed at projecting Xi's influence on the global stage.
Xi's signature foreign policy initiative aims to link China to much of Asia, Europe and Africa by creating trading routes based on the old Silk Road network.
Xi on Sunday offered tens of billions of dollars for projects that are part of his signature policy, which China hopes will reassert its past prominence as the dominant power in Asia.
