This video will show you how to change out a typical circular saw blade. You'll also learn how to determine when it is actually time for a circular saw blade change, rather than relying on the saw blade's appearance (which can be misleading).
Tool List:
--Circular saw (mine is a 7-1/4" Makita)
--7-1/4" blade (Diablo)
--13 mm wrench (supplied by manufacturer)
Steps:
1. Unplug the circular saw!
2. Trigger circular saw brake mechanism (by pressing the small tab, usually located near the blade guard and in line with the arbor)
3. Set wrench on arbor bolt
4. Pull counter-clockwise
5. Loosen and remove bolt and washer
6. Remove circular saw blade
7. Insert new circular saw blade, with teeth pointing up at front
8. Reattach washer and bolt with wrench (clockwise)
Always be careful when changing circular saw blades! The carbide teeth on new circular saw blades can be fairly sharp--consider wearing gloves when handling.
In general, you'll know it's about time for a new circular saw blade when you can hear the saw's motor bogging down in cuts. Also, wood will splinter worse than usual as the circular saw blade passes through the material.
