Galesburg, IL is located about 55 miles southeast of Davenport, IA and 200 miles southwest of Chicago. Five main lines all converge in town, all belonging to BNSF: The Chillicothe Sub, the Mendota Sub, the Ottumwa Sub, the Barstow Sub, and that Brookfield Sub.
The yard in Galesburg, built for the BN, originates manifest trains on all lines. In 1995, construction of the Cameron Connector track allowed movements between the former ATSF Chillicothe Sub with the other former BN routes to and from the yard.
In July, 2017, I journeyed to Galesburg for the first time and was absolutely astounded by it! Between the volume of trains, phenomenal weather and variety of motive power, this trip was easily one of the top five!
