The XRHShuttle is a customized Digital Radiography (DR) system using a Digital Detector Array (DDA) and a high end CNC manipulation mechanic. The system uses a high energy 450kV X-ray tube to penetrate even thick steel castings. In this specific application the manipulator was designed to inspect pistons for ships. These large steel pistons range from 125mm to 550mm. The system can also be automated using an industrial robot for loading and unloading. In the backend the VisiConsult archiving database stores the images, which then can be evaluated on a review station. Of course the manipulator is completely customer specific and can be changed for new projects. The system can even be upgraded to a dual shuttle system to allow inspection and loading at the same time.
