Underneath The Arches (Flanagan) by The Andrews Sisters, orchestra and chorus conducted by Billy Ternent
Bypassing the domestic 1948 ‘recording ban’ restrictions by using orchestral tracks recorded in England by British bandleader Billy Ternent, Decca and the Andrews Sisters were able to manufacture “normal-sounding” cover versions on both sides of this “Underneath The Arches/You Call Everybody Darling” 78 release. The trio’s “Arches” gave Primo Scala’s version a run for the money, reaching #5 on the jukebox chart. Also posted to this collection are the Andrews tracks “Toolie Oolie Doolie” “I Hate To Lose You” and “Woody Woodpecker” (with Danny Kaye).
