The HMS Shannon, a 38 gun fifth rate frigate launched in 1806 is famous for her fight with and capture of the USS Chesapeake during the War of 1812. This is perhaps one of the more equal single ship actions during this war as the Frigates where quite evenly matched. The is also famous for Captain Broke of the Shannon issuing a challenge to single ship combat to Captain Lawrence of the Chesapeake.
For this build I have used a hull from Turner miniatures. The firth rate Leda class hull. The HMS Shannon was of this call of frigates. It was printed on a bambu a1 printer. This makes the hull less fragile but also harder to work than the resin prints I am used to from [ Ссылка ]
The masts are brass wire in the diameters, 1,5 millimetres, 1 millimetres, 0,8 millimetres, 0,6 millimetres and 0,4 millimetres. I used 3d printed fighting tops and furled sails from Turner miniatures masts.
The figurehead that somewhat matches the historical one from the Shannon is a full figure and not a bust, but I will call artistic freedom on that as the bust I had did not look good enough. This figurehead is from Warlord games.
Ratlines are photoetch from Atlantic models, also the crew is photoetch but from Eduard.
I will go into more detail as we work our way through this build.
