Here we look at the promised Sig 716 Gen 2 [G2] and see if it lives up to expectations. Last time we checked in on the 716 it shot in most excellent fashion but was heavy at 10+ lbs. This limited its use. Sig Sauer worked to shave off weight on the 716G2 and they were successful in some measure. We still have the think handguard for the short stroke piston system but it is much lighter. The excellent trigger, outstanding accuracy, and ultimate reliability are here still. This FDE DMR version is preferred and a short discussion on POU ensues to include Police Team Rifle. We found the G2 to be smooth, fast, and ultimately reliable with simple controls, simple gas system, and reliable operations. But it at Gunnies Western Wear!
