Maryland played host to a big announcement Thursday on the issue of Medicare prescription drug costs. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris appeared together on stage at Prince George's Community College in Largo for their first joint appearance since Biden stepped aside from his reelection bid so Harris could become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. It had all the optics of a big campaign rally but was an official White House production, where the president announced his administration struck a deal to lower the cost of 10 of Medicare's most commonly prescribed medications.
